I grew up in Washington state, the youngest of four children, and the only girl. I was a ferocious tomboy, trained by my brothers to keep up in all sports and outdoor activities. My best friends were a plethora of pets that defined my childhood, including a pony, which sparked a life long passion for riding.

I graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Anthropology. My first job out of college was with Vogue magazine as an editorial assistant, very Devil Wears Prada even then. After Vogue, I waited tables at the Saloon restaurant (famous even before Sex and the City), ghost wrote a book (never published) on the Achille Lauro hijacking, married young and moved to London.

My then husband and I had our three children in the eight years we lived in the UK, but returned to the Northwest to raise our family, around mountains and water and big trees. After twelve years in Seattle, we moved to Connecticut, where I now reside with the remaining pets. My kids have all flown the nest.

My work has appeared online at Huffpost, Grown and Flown, Equestrian Weekly, Mothers Always Write, Horse Network, the Roar Sessions, and in the anthologies Nothing But The Truth So Help Me God: 73 Women on Transitions and Here in the Middle: Stories of Love, Loss and Connection From the Ones Sandwiched Between. I am currently working on a memoir.

Below is a video of my young horse Gnocchi and I competing in a 1.15 meter Amateur Jumper Classic in Wellington, Florida in March of 2020.
